Six Years Later

The last time I went ice skating was about 6 years ago, just when Tyler and I started dating. We were there with a group of our friends, and it was that night that I realized that I was falling in love with him.

Ava's been begging me to take her ice skating, so I made a deal with her. If she stayed in bed after I put her to sleep for a week, I would take her. It worked like a charm, so this Saturday's activities included a trip to the Winter Lodge for ice skating. The rink is outside and the weather couldn't have been more perfect. Ava trembled as we laced her skates in anticipation. I feared she would panic the minute we got on the ice, but she loved it. She was a little wobbly at first, but by the end she was digging her toe picks into the ice and pulling me along. She would have stayed until the place closed if we let her.

The whole time we were skating I couldn't stop thinking about the blessings that have come to my life since that last time I was there. Could it really be that so much can happen to one person in six short years? With one daughter holding my hand on the ice, and the other waving to us in Tyler's arms, I was astounded - and full of joy.

I love this post.

Isn't it amazing how life catches up with you at beautiful moments like this one? It just about takes your breath away, doesn't it?

Great post-we all need to take time to look back. I keep telling Tucker that as corny as it sounds, I swear it was just yesterday that I went to the hospital to deliver. Amazing what can happen in so little time!
