7 Layer Cookies

Some of you commented on Ty's post that you wanted to know about the cookies. I learned how to make them from Ty's mom because they are his favorite, but only make them about once a year because they are my favorite too. The greatest thing about these cookies is that you don't need a recipe, primarily because anything smothered in a can of sweetened condensed milk is going to be good. I confess that the cookies I make are really 6 layer cookies, because I don't add nuts, but you could if you want. Ok, so here's how you make them:

1. Crush up graham crackers - enough to coat the bottom of your pan in a thin layer.
2. Melt butter an drizzle over the graham crackers. Mix it around a little and press the graham crackers into the bottom of your pan. I try to use just enough butter to make it all stick together when I press it down.
3. Sprinkle a layer of butterscotch chips.
4. Sprinkle a layer of semi-sweet chocolate chips.
5. Sprinkle a layer of coconut.
6. If you like nuts in your sweets add some.
7. Pour a can of sweetened condensed milk over the whole thing.

Bake at 350 for about 30 minutes or until it bubbles and slightly browns.

So delicious served hot, and totally irresistible served cold.

My mom makes something very similar, too. We call them Hello Dolly Cookies. Mmmm. They're fabulous.

So many names for the same thing! Yes, the "magic cookie bar". . . they are magic in your mouth, they magically disappear, and then when you wake up in the morning you have magically gained 5 pounds! I love those cookies!!!
