This girl has a hard time parting with her silka long enough to put it in the wash. Even with one in hand she has to watch the other spin round and round.

A Visit From The Leprechauns

Those crazy leprechauns paid us a visit on St. Patrick's day, making all sorts of trouble. They overturned the furniture and messed up the couch. Ava thought that they messed up my bed, but no, I just didn't make it. Fortunately, coins and candy spilled out of their pockets in the process.

In related news, I was reminiscing about our trip to Ireland when I was barely pregnant with Ava and feeling all sorts of sick. On our first day we went to kiss the Blarney Stone. We joked about how our baby would be born with the gift of gab. I was walking around Target remembering this, when Ava put her fingers on her head and announced quite loudly, "Look! I'm a horny guy!"


Here I am kissing the Blarney Stone. I cannot look at this picture without cringing over the number of germs and shaking over the large drop below. The guy in the slicker and those rusty bars are the only thing keeping me from falling to certain death.

Lessons From the Party

#1 Don't plan the friend party the day after the birthday. Your child will be WAY too tired.
#2 If you invite the whole class thinking only 1/2 will be able to make it, be prepared that they might just all show up.
#3 Reconsider renting out the bouncy house place. At home parties are fun, but the added stress of doing it all myself was not what I needed this week.

Ava got a fish. His name is Bouncy, or Teddy Bear...I'm not sure what his name will be tomorrow.

5 Years

5 years ago this sweet girl joined our family. We celebrated her birth today by having the family over for pizza and cake. It was her first birthday party without some sort of melt-down and she acted so grown up and gracious to her guests. Each time she opened a gift she would gasp and say "I love it so much. Thank you!" I'm so proud of the little lady she is becoming.

Tomorrow we attempt her first ever "friend" party. Fingers crossed that it goes as well as tonight. I went back and forth over having the party at a bouncy house place or just doing it at home, and decided to keep the first party simple and sweet. Honestly, she had such a great time with her cousins tonight, she hardly needs another party.

February

February was a short, busy month. We spent a long weekend in Park City with my family where we went skiing, sledding, and snowmobiling.

This picture gives new meaning to the term helmet head (Lilly & Ava are on the left).

Ava and Lilly took ski lessons. Ava really picked it up quickly and we were able to ski with her at the end of the day. Lilly was happy to ride the "magic carpet."

Sledding is so much fun when you get towed up the mountain.

I spent the last week of the month on a girls trip to the spa with my mom, sister, and aunt Janet. It was relaxing and rejuvenating and exactly what I needed.

One of my favorite things I did last week was take my first ever sculpting class. I made this head and I'm pretty impressed with myself.

Each morning last week started with a hike onto this mountain. I miss it already.
