Big Swimmer

Ava's been in swim lessons for about 2 months now. What began as a terror-inducing half hour each week has turned into the thing she most looks forward to. Two weeks ago she advanced to level two and got a ribbon - her first ribbon ever. She was so proud.

Today, she had a substitute teacher who told her to put her floating dumbbell on the pool deck and swim about 15 feet over to her. I almost ran over to tell this lady that there is no way she can do it; but before I could do anything, Ava took off - and swam. She really swam. She even managed to pop up for a breath. Then she did it again and swam all the way back to the wall, where she beamed the greatest smile my direction.

I don't know why I doubted her. The reality is that the girls astound me each day with the things they are able to do. One of the greatest things about being their mom is watching them develop into these little people, with unique personalities and talents.

I'll Be There For You Bon Jovi

I went to see Bon Jovi a couple weeks ago. Tyler described the crowd as "a bunch of old cougars." He was probably just trying to feel manly when Sadler couldn't make it, Tracie took Angie as her date, and he realized he would spend the next few hours with three screaming women. I could get back at him by posting what we recorded of "Livin' on a Prayer" which features Ty belting out the chorus. Instead you can enjoy "I'll Be There For You" and relive those middle school dances.

Bad Mood, Bad Mom

Lilly has been in bad mood for the last few weeks. Ava keeps asking why her little sis has turned into a demon all of the sudden, and the best answer I've had was, "Lilly's two. This is how two-year old's act sometimes."

This morning was worse than ever and her crying had me worried. It was different than her normal fussing, and got me thinking she's not feeling well. I took her temp and asked her a list of questions to find out what's really going on. Finally it hit me and I asked her to open her mouth. Sure enough she's got swollen gums and several new teeth making their way out. A dose of Tylenol and she's back to her normal sweet self.

You'd think with all the teething I've been through between Ava & Lilly I would have been a little quicker to pick this up. I guess I no longer qualify for the perfect mother of the year award...Dang it! I was really close ;)

Straight

Yep, it's me. I hardly recognize myself. In case you're wondering, it takes about an hour to get my hair straight. Fun results, but hardly worth it.

Viva Mexico

I have a fabulous mother who generously agreed to take my sisters and I to Rancho la Puerta spa in Tecate, Mexico during the first week of April. We spent a week hiking, doing Yoga, working out, taking cooking & photography lessons, eating healthful food, and relaxing. I got a chance to take African dance and drumming classes, spend an hour a day just stretching, and I even tried a meditation class. It was beyond words.

I also have a fabulous husband and in-laws who took over the mom role so I could go in the first place. It was easy to relax knowing the girls where being well loved while I was away.
