Looking Down at the Common People

My parents changed their travel plans and skipped their evening in Rome. Unfortunately for them, they weren't able to cancel their hotel reservation. Fortunately for us, we were able to use it.

Stretching Out the Summer Fun

Summer went by way too fast and ever since school started, I've felt the need to grab every little last piece of summer. I've been accomplishing this primarily by spending most of my free hours by the pool. We spent labor day at the beach with friends from church and Ty and I even went boogie boarding. Yep, in the COLD Santa Cruz ocean.

Tonight there is something in the air - something that feels and smells like fall. And for a moment, I caught myself getting excited. I'm just about ready to let go to the summer dream, but I'm still crossing my fingers that this warm weather holds out. Just a few more weeks please!

Gymnastics

Aside from swim lessons, gymnastics was the only scheduled activity the girls had this summer. Here are some shots from the last day.

And once again....

We ventured to the magical land of Disney this weekend to use our annual passes one last time before they expire. As we neared the gates on our first morning, Ava couldn't contain her squeals of delight, making the trip worth it from the start. We discovered that Lilly loves rollercoasters and took countless trips on the Matterhorn and the Toon Town coaster. It is her great misfortune to not be 40" yet, so she did her share of pouting as big sister got to ride Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Thunder Mountain Railroad, and Soaring California over and over. She is tall enough to ride the bumper cars for the first time. Very special. Fortunately the park was relatively empty, so we even got to ride Nemo and the new Toy Story Mania ride.

Special highlights included swimming at the Candy Cane Inn and a visit from cousins Roman & Capri.
