The Maternity Shirt

Ok, ladies. I went shopping for some new clothes this week and was shocked to see that the new fashion is for women to wear tops that look like maternity shirts. I'm well aware that this style has been out there for a while, but now that summer clothes have hit the stores, it's pretty rampant. In fact, I stole this image from the Banana Republic website. If you look at it, you'll see that pretty much all of their tops right now look like they'll get you through your second trimester, if not all three.
I've been avoiding these shirts for fear that people will start to ask me when I'm due. I've never had it happen (thankfully!) but I know lots of women this has happened to and it's incredibly traumatic. That's why my rule of thumb is to NEVER ask pregnancy related questions unless I know for certain that someone is, or they look like they're just about ready to pop.
Anyway, I decided to buy a top that looks a little like the one in the picture, only it has a cute crochet collar thing around the neck. Today is my first day wearing it. I'm not sure if it looks cute or tent-like, but if I decide I can't get away with the look, I can always toss it into my storage container full of maternity clothes and get some use out of it down the road.

ok-i second you! i was wearing a cute, empire waist tent-like shirt last sunday and was run down, ye he went out of his way to approach me, by the high-priest group leader who asked me the forbidden question..."are you pregnant?"
when i answered no, he about passed out with embarrassment! what's a girl to do?

so this style was popular when I was younger and I'm not about to do it again and I don't blame you for not wanting to wear it. Only those who have been pregnant understand that when you are not pregnant you really don't want to look like you are.
