Even though I'm still averaging 4-6 hours of sleep at night and feel like a walking zombie, I've been feeling stir-crazy from staying put for so long in anticipation of Naomi's arrival. For some reason the exhaustion of pregnancy is completely different for me from the exhaustion of being up in the night with a newborn. When I'm pregnant I'm generally tired and have no desire to do anything. Now, even when I'm so tired I feel dizzy, I still want to get up and out of the house. I want to redecorate rooms. I want to garden. I want to exercise. But most of all, I want to travel again.
My parents offered to meet us in Disneyland, so we took advantage of the three-day weekend to take a quick trip. Naomi was a dream for the long drive and walking around the park. We got rained on the last day, but discovered that a poncho keeps a baby stroller perfectly warm and dry.
Since we hadn't been to Disneyland in a year and half (an eternity for our family), Lilly didn't remember any of it. She got to ride Space Mountain and Tower of Terror for the first time, but the Matterhorn is still her favorite. The entire ride she kept yelling, "I told you it was fast!"
Ava has an amazing memory and remembers the details about each and every ride. She remembers what Goofy did in the hotel lobby when she was three. She KNOWS Disneyland. She's also developed an intense desire to figure out how they do everything from the characters to the special effects. While a part of me is sad to see that it isn't all 100% real to her anymore, its fun to hear her creative explanations for how things work.
The girls wore their Mickey ears the entire time we were in the park. Ava even wore hers for entire trip to Anaheim.
