I don't want to jinx myself by saying so, but I think we've finally recovered from the surgery/strep throat that we've been dealing with for the last week and a half. Lilly finally had her tonsils and adenoids removed to fix her obstructive sleep apnea, and the following day Ava started her symptoms of strep throat. At first I brushed off her complaints of a sore throat as a play to get sympathy and bubble-gum flavored medicine. When she spiked a fever, I decided it was time for a throat culture.
The surgery went surprisingly fast, but the hard part was having to watch Lilly endure the pain afterwards. She was excited to eat lots of popsicles, smoothies, and ice-cream, but they were too cold and she opted for chocolate milk and wheat thins instead. Wheat thins sound incredibly scratchy and painful post-op, but for some reason that's all she wanted. The following week she felt pretty good during the day, but nights were rough. She had a hard time sleeping for more than two hours without waking in pain. The other thing that was rough, especially for someone suffering from smell aversion due to morning sickness, was her foul breath as the wounds were healing. So glad that's over.
The only thing we have to deal with now, besides me freaking out that she's stopped breathing because she's not snoring anymore, is that fact that Lilly is wetting the bed again. She is sleeping so peacefully now she doesn't wake when she has to "go." I guess that's a small price to pay for a good night's sleep.

Oh Mindy, I am so sorry! Your poor girls and poor you. I am so glad that everyone is on the mend and we are all thinking of you (in hopes it will speed up the process somehow!). Love you!
she really is sleeping better now!

We are due with our 3rd girl in 8 weeks. crazy how fast it goes the more kiddos you have. Mindy, I have to say that while I empathize completely re: the pain in the neck events...I got stuck on your "smell aversion due to morning sickness" sentence and can't stop smiling at this joyful news! Many congratulations, friend!
Hey Mindy -
Glad to hear that all seem to be on the mend. And, like everyone else, I am delighted to hear about baby #3! What fantastic news. We all need to meet up for dinner again soon!
